Manchester design consultancy JudgeGill has designed the branding and interior of late night venue The Black Dog Ballroom.

The venue, which will be located in the creative hub of Manchester, The Northern Quarter, will open in October situated in the basement of Affleck’s Palace building.

Kevin Gill, managing director of JudgeGill, explained: “Inside the venue, we’ve created seven key areas, including the pool area, dance floor, main bar, lounge, lobby and library; and there’s a secret pool room, known as the ‘Ball room’, with key code entry – one of the key features of the bar.

“Throughout, we’re using impactful graphics and wall treatments, such as book print wall paper in the library and backlit black dog images.

“Overall, we’ve created an elegant environment that will deliver a stimulating experience. The design combines decadent fabrics with natural materials, where modern design meets traditional features to give a very theatrical and dramatic effect.

“Dark wood floorboards are contrasted with slate tiles and shot blasted brickwork; wood panels adorn the library walls. There’s a dynamic and enticing blend of mood lighting, a statement staircase, luxe couches, booth seating, linen drapes plus loads of quirky features that will make this unlike anything Manchester – or the North West – has ever seen before.”
