New York Festival Design competition has been dominated by agencies based in the North of England

Leading the way was True North, which collected two Gold Awards in the Design competition, both for its Expecting Baby brand identity work.
The agency, headed up by Martin Carr, also collected a Silver Award and a Finalist Award for its Royal Mail Special Stamps Yearbook design and visual identity for the 2008 Gustav Klimt exhibition at Tate Liverpool.
True North’s Creative Director Ady Bibby commented, “The New York festivals attract entries from the best agencies across the world, so to pick up five awards, including two Golds in the Design competition, is tremendous. Continuing evidence of our commitment to creating brands and identities that are as beautiful as they are effective.”
Also collecting a Gold Award in New York was Manchester-based Love, which won for its Silver Cross packaging work, while The Chase weighed in with a Silver Award for its Freedom Travel Group identity work.
MARK Studio, headed up by Mark Lester earned itself a Bronze Award for its brochure work for Wigan Little Theatre, while Elmwood, the Leeds-based design consultancy picked up a Bronze for its Purely Cat Food packaging work.
