Paul Baker, creative director of WAA is set to leave the agency having only joined at the beginning of the year from McCann Erickson.
It was announced in August last year that he was to join WAA at head of creative three years after he decided to join the agency before a last minute change of heart saw him remain at McCann’s.
Jacqui Lennon, managing director of WAA, commented: "We can confirm that Paul Baker is leaving WAA. Since joining us as creative director in January it has become apparent that he does not share the WAA Board's ambition and vision for growth, and it is therefore appropriate that he has chosen to leave. We are working with Paul to enable his rapid move on. We wish him well in his future endeavours."
On joining the agency, Baker was appointed to WAA’s board, reporting to managing director Jacqui Lennon, and heading up a team including creative directors Steve Eltringham and Henry Becket.

It was pretty obvious there were going to be tears before bedtime on this one - it would be a compliment to describe WAA's 'creative' output over the years as mediocre at best.
There was/is no way this will change with the appointment of someone who understands what the term actually means.
I thought Steve Eltringham, who was probably a better fit anyway with the WAA culture, 'left' last year?
Anyone know where Steve went?
He was a top bloke.
Gone to KLM - Good agency work with some big brands.

Unfortunately, it was always going to happen. It was simply a case of when.
Steve Eltringham, I believe, went back down to freelance in London.
Gaz - watch your back!
So, having presided over the largest agency in the region and helped it roughly double in size, Paul is now deemed to be at odds with an ambition to grow WAA?
Smacks of wanting to grow the agency the wrong way to me. Paul knows that the only sustainable way to build an agency is through quality work. I hope he finds somewhere that's prepared to let him get on with that.
"it has become apparent that he does not share the WAA Board's ambition and vision for growth." The fact that they would release such a ridiculous and unprofessional quote explains why Paul has left quite succinctly I think.
