Cheshire's Origin Creative has appointed TBWA\Manchester design director Matt Casey as creative director, leaving incumbent CD Mark Bottomley to focus on the role of MD.

The appointment means Origin's incumbent creative director, Mark Bottomley, can concentrate on the role of managing director.

As part of the reshuffle, Origin's senior designer Simon Allman has moved up to design director.

Bottomley said Casey's arrival is "the perfect complement" to the agency's expanding team, which now stands at 23 staff.

"With the consolidated growth we’ve recently enjoyed, it’s a pleasure to be taking on someone of Matt’s calibre," Bottomley said. "It’s great to be recruiting in these challenging times and it certainly bodes well for our continued growth."

Fergus McCallum, CEO of TBWA\Manchester, commented: “Matt’s a great bloke, occasionally a little grumpy but a fantastic talent. We’re sorry to see him go but sometimes you have to respect somebody’s desire to spread their wings and do other things. Everybody here wishes him all the best in the future and he knows he is welcome here anytime.”

Let's hope Mr Bottomley can actually bear to 'let go' of the CD role. Some find it difficult, as I can testify from personal experience.

Maybe he was grumpy because he wasn't happy?
