Specsavers launches new quick response TV campaign

The in-house marketing team of Specsavers has created a new TV campaign in response to news about the Irish Economy to promote the brand’s 2-4-1 designer glasses off

The campaign will break in Ireland this weekend.

The ‘Comedy Capers’ campaign sees the brand’s new antihero Harrison, a bitter competitor to Specsavers attempt to take down billboard ads with the offer.

The spot was conceived and executed in just two weeks as a swift response to the changes in Ireland’s economy which presented Specsavers with an opportunity to push a high-end product with a strong offer.

Graham Daldry, creative director at Specsavers, said: “Given the short timeframe available, extending our Harrison character seemed like the right strategy because his previous varifocals campaign was very successful. By working directly with our client, Richard Holmes, we managed to turn the whole campaign around in just two weeks.”

Mustard was the production company involved with the adverts which were directed by Cris Mudge.

If there are any eight-year-olds out there in the market for designer glasses, this'll go down a storm.

This bumbling, idiotic Harrison character reminds me of the 'Get Me Hennimore' sketch on That Mitchell & Webb Look.

A real cannon would have been a nice twist.

"I'll get you Specsavers if it's the last thing I'll do!" Personally, I'm already looking forward to seeing what the dastardly Harrison has got up his sleeve.
