A website has been launched to celebrate the 150th anniversary of one of London’s most famous landmarks Big Ben, created by Spring Design.
The Suffolk-based design agency was appointed by luxury clock and watch maker Dent & Co, which built the famous Westminster clock tower, as it looked to engage with their customers around the world and promote its new range.
The site will also act as a resource for vintage timepieces too.
James Kindred, creative director for Spring, explained that the sites design was created to complement Dent’s printed materials while large product shots allow consumers to view each product in greater detail.
“The watches and clocks are enhanced by the rich black background, with glows and textures to create a opulent, luxurious effect that draws the eye towards each image,” continued Kindred.
The site blends classic elements with modern web design to reflect Dent’s progression from the Victorian age to the 21st century.
The site was built in PHP to ensure that it loaded quicker, with the agency stripping out all of the original Flash built site, explained Chris Waters, digital marketing for Spring.
“We removed Flash from the original website that formed the basis of this one, but retained the animations and the dynamism by using jQuery. This allows the customer to glide between the products as though they are browsing in a shop.
“The beauty of jQuery is that you can increase the search engine friendliness of the site without sacrificing the quality of the website’s graphics.”
The website will also allow customers to enquire about their antique Dent pieces, submit details for valuation and find out where to repair and sell them.
