Paul Clennell is to join the MediaCityUK senior management team as chief technology officer, Peel Media announced today.

Clennell is programme director at Red Bee Media in London, where has has worked since 2003.

He is currently exclusively focused on the transfer of Channel 4’s operations from their central London HQ to Red Bee Media’s Broadcast Centre. He is expected to take up his new role in Salford Quays in the autumn.

Clennell said he is excited at the prospect of working on a project which has "international significance for the media industry".

"I’m looking forward to working with the team at MediaCityUK to deliver a truly world class media community in which technology plays a pivotal role," Clennell said.

He has previously spent two years with BBC Technology working on the refurbishment of all of the corporation's radio and bi-media sites for the English regions.

Bryan Gray, chairman of Peel Media, said: "This is a key appointment for MediaCityUK and Paul’s vast experience at both the BBC and in the commercial sector, will be a great asset to our team.”

The first stage of MediaCityUK is due to be completed in 2011.
