A national press campaign has been launched by Edinburgh-based communications agency, Hookson, for Rangemaster, part of the AGA Rangemaster Group.
The campaign focuses on the fact that Rangemaster was responsible, in 1830, for creating the world’s first ever range cooker – a fact that has been rarely promoted by the manufacturer previously.
The new strategy was conceived by Hookson as it wanted to reinforce and substantiate Rangemaster’s market-leading position as Europe’s No.1 range cooker manufacturer.
Naomi Askins of Hookson said: “ With peoples reluctance to spend and the current tough, highly-competitive retail conditions, we felt that it was imperative to press home to consumers Rangemaster’s little-known heritage and market-leading credentials to act not only as a strong incentive to buy, but also to validate their choice.”
James Betts, creative director, added: “It’s always nice to have a unique product truth on which to base a campaign. Being as single-minded as possible is paramount.”
Three executions are set to run in a variety of Home, Self Build and Interior magazines, as well as weekend supplements.

Is this a 'range' ad (thought I'd keep the bad puns going for you there) or one for the cooker. Why all the other stuff at the bottom?
If you can't make people believe you make the best cookers why would they believe that anything else you touch is any good.
Brochure on a page.
Agree bold look and simple copy, with simple shot of product. The one and only, original range cooker.
Confidence then completely undermined by a load of other stuff at the bottom.
They'll be gutted that the two anons on the obscure marketing website haven't given their seal of approval.
I'd just like to thank James Betts, Creative Director, for pointing out how advertising works in two cliché-ridden sentences.
These don't offend my middle-class sensibilities. Clean, short and to the point.
I'm going to be a minor pain in the ass and point out that anyone in the market for a two grand cooker probably went to university and will know that the real French Revolution was in 1789.
Personally, I would sell these on the fact that they're 'an AGA, without the fuel bills'.
Anyway, it's none of my business.
You hear that, everyone? Being as single-minded as possible when you're selling cookers, dishwashers, sinks, wine storage oh yes and different types of cookers all in one ad is paramount apparently.
They've even got the kitchen sink in the ad.
Nice work Thompson.
There were in fact three revolutions is France. The middle one occurred in 1830. (The July revolution).
So Giles, you're both right and wrong.
Plus ca change.
Anyway it's none of my business either.
No Malc Has resigned. I have this on good authority.
'Certes,' Angus. (French for 'granted'.) However, if you ask any French person, the biggie was 1789. Hence the 1989 bi-centenary celebrations.
It's great to see that a premium brand like Rangemaster has upped the tone of the banter on this forum.
Forsooth.

Giles: pretentious, toi?
Absolutely. But with good reason.
Hey Bish, I hope Malc's clients know that he's resigned, given that you've told the world.
Glad to put my suit on Giles.

Nicely said, Bryan.
