Digital agency Orange Bus and online and mobile video company Kyte are offering touring car fans the opportunity to watch live behind the scenes action from one of the team garages at the next British Touring Car Championship race.
Newcastle-based Orange Bus sponsors the Bamboo engineering team and its driver Harry Vaulhard, and is now set to broadcast a live web video feed from the team garage throughout the next race weekend at Rockingham on 19 and 20 September.
The feed will be available through the Bamboo website and on mobile phones, featuring live coverage from the pits.
Footage will include the car being prepared and repaired over the weekend and will also present fans with the opportunity to send messages to the team.
The site has also been developed to allow for the upload of images from the race almost as soon as they have been taken.
The agency agreed a deal with Kyte to provide technology for the feed.
Julian Leighton, director of Orange Bus, said: “We’ve designed and developed Harry’s website and have been involved with him as a driver for a few years now. We’ve realised how keen fans are to see what goes on behind the scenes, in addition to the polished image presented on TV and in the press. By allowing us to create the live feed, Bamboo have opened a window to the team’s activity during race weekend.
“If it works well, this type of technology could be rolled out to our teams or even other racing classes. Imagine how fantastic it would be to see if the McLaren team in action, for example, or be able to ask Lewis Hamilton what he thinks of how this car is performing. We are certainly keen to use it in other commercial situations.”
