The Scottish Government has appointed its Race campaign to Merle following a pitch involving many of its roster agencies.
The Glasgow-based marketing agency will now be charged the implementation of a new communications strategy to combat racism in Scotland.
The account was previously held by Barkers which closed earlier this year.
Merle will now work along Stripe which will handle PR with the online element yet to be assigned.
John Morgan, CEO of merle, said: “The Scots are hugely generous and welcoming so it is a shock to many to realise that Racism remains a serious issue in Scotland. It not only affects the daily lives of many but drags us down as a nation. We are just delighted to have been given the responsibility and opportunity of challenging unacceptable attitudes and behaviour.”
Roger Williams, Scottish Government's head of marketing added: "Merle won this important tender on the basis of excellent strategic analysis and innovative thinking. This is the first major award to a new member of the marketing roster and demonstrates the breadth and talent of our agencies."

That's the first nice picture I've seen of John. Well done to Giles. I'm sure the tender was a scorcher.

Congrats fellas. Look forward to seeing the work.
We pride ourselves on being welcoming but the truth is much uglier.
Make us proud for all the right reasons.
“The Scots are hugely generous and welcoming"
Scots are racist - just look how they talk about the English; this seems to be brushed under the carpet at all levels of Gov and the media.
