Looop hole created to save print and the environment

A new, eco-friendly print initiative has launched today. Looop is a portal that enables designers to reduce the financial and environmental cost of print by combining different jobs together on the same paper sheet.

Nick Bond, director of Looop explains: “Most design jobs are printed on A2 or A1 type paper and when they’re trimmed out approximately 30% is wastage -sometimes up to 70% of paper is thrown in the bin.  Looop is looking to dramatically reduce that figure, get the whole industry to adopt a more eco-efficient way of approaching print production.”

Different jobs on 1 sheet? Sounds like they've found a gap in the market, hope printing.com don't see this, they might try copy the idea

Clever budget-conscience designers have been doing this for years... so why's this news.
I'm out.

Haha exactly. The only difference is, Printing.com don't claim to be trying to help the environment. Even though, indirectly, I guess they are.

A1 or A2 type paper? uhhhhh doesn't he mean B1 or B2??? Leave the print realated talk to the Production Managers!

And if your printer is wasting up to 30% on a sheet, sack that estimator or print buyer... It is a crime!!!!

The specified sheet sizes are different for most non-standard stock and different printers use different size presses anyway, so as a designer you can already eliminate wastage by having a close relationship with several print/paper suppliers who are more than keen to give you their best service. Also as a designer I like my jobs to have the full attention of the selected service provider. However I can see this working for the budget end of print buying.

A poor attempt to play the green card as a USP. Go for your ISO 14001 to prove you are making an effort to be environmentally friendly, people might believe that.
