A limited edition book for Krug Champagne has been created by Freight Design to mark the launch of a special menu inspired by the brand at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie in Gleneagles Hotel.

Last month, Andrew Fairlie, Scotland’s only two Michelin Star chef – closed his restaurant to host a private dinner attended by Rémi Krug, President of Maison Krug, Albert and Michel Roux and a number of other private guests.

The case-bound book features the evening’s menu and 45 pages of photography by photo journalist David Gillanders, who travelled with Fairlie to the Krug vineyards near Reims earlier this month.

The dinner saw each dish designed to bring out the best of Krug’s champagne and was took a year to plan.

Davinder Samrai, creative director for Freight worked alongside the hotel and Restaurant consultancy The Splendid Group, which required a ‘rapid design and production’ turnaround.

Samrai commented: “It was a pleasure to work not only with a great product but also some outstanding images by one of Scotland’s best photographers. I’m hoping to get a chance to experience the menu later next month.”

The agency is now set to overhaul the website for Andrew Fairlie which it designed in 2008.

so, the dishes for the dinner took a year to plan and were eaten in one evening – yet the accompanying book (which will act as a keepsake/mememto for the guests forever) required a 'rapid design and production turnaround'. You have to love client sometimes...

Typical afterthought I imagine.
