Glasgow 2014 has appointed digital communications specialists Dog Digital, to develop a new website and digital communications platform.

The site will be designed to reflect the new Glasgow 2014 brand identity, currently in development, and will introduce site functionality inline with the OC’s planned objectives during the preparation and build-up phases of the Games.

Dog Digital came out on top after a competitive pitch process.

“Glasgow 2014 is the largest and most high profile sporting event for the City of Glasgow and Scotland in the next five years and we are thrilled with the OC’s decision to appoint Dog Digital to develop this site and for the opportunity to join the Glasgow 2014 team,” said David Hamilton, client services director for Dog Digital.

“Dog Digital responded with a consistently high quality and detailed proposal, which left the OC in no doubt that they are our ideal partner agency,” added John Donnelly, director of marketing and sponsorship for Glasgow 2014. “The web is a critical element of our communications plan for the Games and we look forward to working with Dog Digital to help the OC deliver a world class Games for the city in 2014”.

Dog has already worked with the Games' Committe having been appointed in February to create a website for its planning phase.

Well done to Dog and glad to see the work stay local.

Bit unfortunate that the committee felt they had to have another pitch for the site proper before awarding it to the company they were already happily working with. Two full blown pitches? Wonder how much time was wasted on that. A sign of the times no doubt.

Hopefully the main site will be better than the interim site which funnily enough is an absolute 'dog'.

Don't be silly David - this work was never going to anyone other than the incumbent agency.

Given the extent of grammatical errors and syntax issues on the current site, do you think Dog may be able to find a writer who has some degree of familiarity with the English language?

But what we're really interested about is the 'rumours'.

Who in their right mind would even enter into a pitch like this. What a waste of time and money on the agency side. The organisers should pay for the pitches and this would stop this whole carry on!!!
