Johnston press has closed its long-time operational office for The Scotsman based in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre.
Though it was nowhere near the size of the newspaper’s headquarters in Edinburgh, the Glasgow office was its stand-out presence in Glasgow and the headquarters for the general editorial staff based in the west of Scotland and was also the office for some members of Scotland on Sunday staff as well.
Based in the office was the Transport Correspondent while it also operated as a 'drop-in' for the Glasgow correspondents. The move is thought to have affected around a dozen members of staff.
The company has confirmed that staff which were based in the city centre office are now based at Johnston Press’ offices at Academy Park in Dumbreck.
It is thought that the closure of the city centre office is a financial decision as Johnston Press continues to deal with challenging times in the face of the changing world of publishing.
