Whyte and Mackay has appointed Material Marketing as its new marketing agency, to handle promotion, PR and sponsorship for the brand.

The Glasgow-agency takes over the role from DADA which has held the account for over two years having been approached to take over by the client directly.

Rob Bruce, head of global PR for Whyte and Mackay praised the achievements of DADA and its work, but explained that the move had been made following his experience of working with Material at lager brand Tennents, another of the agency’s clients.

As well as advertising and PR, Material will also handle the marketing of the Whyte and Mackay sponsorship of Premier League Darts.

Colin Spence, partner at Material added: "We are naturally delighted to be working on the Whyte & Mackay brand and our Sports Team in particular are looking forward to developing some great ideas around the Premier League Darts partnership."

The company will continue to have an ongoing relationship with The Leith Agency as it's advertising agency.

Having worked on W&M - winning the account is the easiest bit. Keeping it and delivering a vision that is right, which the client also buys into is the tough bit. It’s a great brand with awesome global potential (especially if India and China change their attitude towards import tax on Scotch whisky) - in my opinion W&M has yet to even scrape the surface of where it can go. Good luck.
