The Hub party launch

The launch of newly build office space The Hub at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, was celebrated last week with Hubfest, which acted as a showcase for the work of its tenants

The Hub is Scotland’s newest addition to its digital media sector containing office units from 127ft upwards in the heart of the new Digital Media Quarter, next to BBC Scotland, STV and Galaxy Scotland.

Already based there is Glasgow School of Art’s Digital Design Studio, Southside, Shed Productions, wireless applications services provider, Pointshift, and 3D imaging leaders, Dimensional Imaging to name a few.

Donny McKinnon, director of Downtown Space which alongside Helical Bar, which conceived the building, gave address to the gathered crowd to explain the process behind that went into the creation of The Hub.

The Hub might work because the small business rates relief makes it affordable for small creative companies which it certainly wasn't before they brought it in. Their main challenge is that creative companies like a bit of individuality and don't react well to being herded into an homogenous pen. Albeit a very pleasant one in this instance.
