Bogg made CEO at Big Group as Sanders returns to McCanns

John Sanders, chief executive of Big Communications is to return to McCann Erickson Brand Response in Birmingham as a director, having only left in March.

As a result of Sander’s departure, Dylan Bogg will take on the role of CEO at Big Communications Group.

A statement from Chris Morris, chairman of the Big Communication Group, said: “After a constructive six months with the business and following a period of consultation with us about our future needs and his family and business ambitions, CEO John Sanders is leaving the company to return to McCann Erickson, as well as pursuing other projects and personal interests.”

The statement continued to confirm Bogg’s promotion and also revealed that Bogg would work with Sanders during a transition period until his departure on 4 December.

“Dylan has consistently demonstrated a remarkably broad range to his creative and business talents and his appointment to the CEO role is totally in keeping with our continuing drive to achieve ever-higher standards of creative output, strategic thinking and client service throughout the group,” added Morris.

“I’ll be working with Dean on developing the business, new business and other projects within the business,” explained Sanders who previously worked at McCann’s for five years as managing director.

His role will be ‘a flexible one’, which was a factor in attracting him to return to work at McCann’s.

“The realisation for me is that when you are the top man, it is very difficult to keep that going and that was one of the main factors, while also being afforded the opportunity to take a bit of time out to work on other things.”

Dean Lovett, chief executive of McCann Erickson Birmingham said that Sanders would not begin working with the agency until January.

Lovett said: “This company has gotten so much bigger now and I need someone to help me focus on business development. Also John has a very strong background in automotive having been marketing director of MG Rover and also worked on the Vauxhall account at Lowe Broadway, so obviously with us winning the General Motors account, he will help us focus on that. He will also help us to secure new business and help me with overseeing Bristol and Birmingham.”

It must be Dean's magnetic personality that bring his creative director and MD back to the business after short spells in other Midlands agencies

Whilst i love John Sanders and some of the other guys to bits, i'd rather boil my own head than go back to McCanns.

i can't help thinking boiling one's own head would be a tad painful. just hit yourself with a spanner instead.

I think over the years McCanns has managed to rid itself of the the negative head boiling types thats why it is such a great agency today

The last words i got at McCanns were, 'If you're looking for a creative agency, you need to go somewhere else'. But look, this isn't my story. Good luck to John at McCanns and Dylan at Big.

I hope he can do more for McCanns than he did for Rover!

I know, in the spirit of the latest move by the banking industry, why not split it all up and resurrect Barkers and Wallis Tomlinson?
