ATTIK to close Yorkshire base

ATTIK to close Yorkshire baseATTIK to close Yorkshire base

ATTIK, the Yorkshire-based creative agency, is to relocate its UK headquarters from Leeds to London by January 2010.

It is understood that there will be some redundancies within the agency as a result of the move, but that relocation and remote working opportunities are being offered.

The agency, meanwhile, is actively seeking new talent to strengthen its new London operation, with creative directors, designers and account managers all sought.

ATTIK, which was founded in 1986 in a Huddersfield attic, previously had a London office which closed in 2001 following economic challenges.

It had initially been thought that the Leeds base would be retained with its branding consultancy focus while the new London team focussed on digital design.

ATTIK has previously produced design-driven strategic work for major brands such as Adidas, Coca-Cola and Toyota, and in 2007 became a subsidiary of Dentsu.

"We are very excited to be preparing our return to London, knowing we have the support and partnership of the world's largest agency," said co-founder James Sommerville. "As much as ever before, London remains central to the world of design, and we all have very ambitious plans for ATTIK."

Don't expect the Japanese contingent (Dentsu) could find fancy enough restaurants that far beyond Berkeley Square.

Don't believe the haters. Still a force worth reckoning. Take some time to see their work for Coke & Toyota and then comment.

We ourselves started many years ago in Huddersfield and Attik were a great competitive energy for us. For that we have to be grateful.
Its very true that Attik inspired lots of great designers , I note Rick Smith has commented on this story , Rick is an amazing designer who would im sure thank Attik for much of his inspiration.
Im not a fan of their work ( no problem as im not a client of theirs!) - if i said anything other than that there would be way too many people calling me a hypocrite. What i am a fan of is any agency that builds itself as a 'brand' and Attik have done that very well. Attik is a brand -they polorise opinion ( as is born out by the contrasting comments in this thread). To do that they self promote and have opinions. They dont play it safe. They risk stability for growth. As i have always said , clients could do a lot worse than selecting creative partners by their ability to practice what they preach. Only Attik and one or two others have managed to evolve their own business into a brand. for than more than anything i applaud them. Yes they play the media too, good on em.
Im not that bothered about whether their Leeds office is closing or not.

Attik has a Northern Soul and will no doubt 'keep the faith', wherever it's based.
