Founder and former managing director of 1576, David Reid has been appointed as marketing director for Border Biscuits.
The part-time role will allow Reid to continue to honour his other commitments which includes marketing mentor for The Marketing Industry Network, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and as a board director of Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Reid explained: " I am really enjoying the diversity of things I'm working on at the moment. I have my own clients where I offer strategic marketing advice and others where I return to my creative roots, creating ads and writing commercials. One of these even got an award at the recent Scottish Advertising Awards, but looking for accreditation for things like that no longer interests me.”
He continued: “The opportunity to work for Border, Britain's fastest growing biscuit manufacturer came out of the blue when they recently heard me delivering a talk on how clients should use agencies at the Barr's Irn Bru headquarters. It is slightly strange being on the other side of the table, having creative work presented to you, but hugely enjoyable, because I can really appreciate the complexity of answering briefs".

If Scottish Ad Awards are beneath you, why mention winning one recently?
crumbs!
He doesn't rate awards that why he doesn't like to talk about the time he won an award that time he won an awards award. Award.
I know awards mean nothing to David - and that's a good thing as he didn't actually win one. He was mentioned on the Drum awards website under the salubrious title of 'other' on an stv ad that was merely commended.
I'm finding this to hard to "digest" - i await further comments!
Hopefully there's no such thing as the Scottish Biscuit Awards....
WAIT A MINUTE - Borders Biscuits did well at the Biscuit World Cup in 2003.
David - get out of there before it's too late. You can't have award-winning biscuits on a refreshingly award-free CV.

Well played, David. Nice job; nice biscuits. I look forward to you winning the Ginger Nut d'Or at the 2010 Cookies.

Well played David!
I've always dreamed of a Selkirk Bannock flavoured biscuit. Any chance of that in the innovations pipeline??
He's not Willy Wonka.

Which ad won?
The one he made in his shed and presented to himself in the toilets at the award ceremony. A game of limp biscuit Dave?
That's not a Happy Face.
