Minister for Community Safety, Fergus Ewing, and Stephen McBride, chairman of the Glasgow West End Pub Watch scheme launch the Scottish Government's Cocaine Awareness Weekends as part of the Know the Score campaign.

The Leith Agency, alongside The Big Partnership with Golley Slater working on digital, handled the new Scottish Government campaign warning festive revellers about the serious health dangers of cocaine use.

The campaign, which will launch in 118 pubs, clubs and student unions across Edinburgh and Glasgow this weekend (Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November), comprises of t-shirts, display posters and information leaflets detailing the health risks of cocaine use, as well as the information and advice website www.knowthescore.org.

The activity is part of a series of Cocaine Awareness Weekends (CAWs) being held before and during the Christmas party season at a time when temptation to experiment may be high

The scheme directly targets 18-26 year olds and the general adult population to raise awareness of the health risks of taking cocaine, which is now the second most used drug among young people.

The initiative is being delivered in partnership with various licence trade schemes in each region including members from Edinburgh’s Safeguard and Unight schemes, Glasgow West End Pub Watch and Glasgow’s G1 Group.

Launching the CAWs, Minister for Community Safety, Fergus Ewing, visited the Oran Mor bar in Glasgow’s West End where he met with staff and listened to a cocaine awareness session delivered by Strathclyde Police.

He said: “Many young people are not aware of the risks involved in cocaine use and the Scottish Government want to ensure they have all the facts by providing clear information in pubs, clubs and student unions."

Agreed. Very engaging and lovingly crafted. Love the typeface and love the fact it doesn't look like it's been set on a mac by a one handed art director wearing a boxing glove.

Who's the illustrator? And Gareth, who illustrated your Odd Ball Mall? We're looking for illustrators to take part in our exhibition.

Glad to hear you like the work Pete, I was the illustrator on that particular job, and the custom type was a big part of getting the feel right. Thanks to Chris for some great direction throughout the whole process.

Pete

Odd Ball Mall was illustrated by Gareth's son, Morgan (aged 1 and 3/4). He's difficult to deal with, like his dad.
