Edinburgh based Story has devised a new charity donation campaign ahead of Christmas having created a website which holds a wish-list of items from grassroots charities and local organisations.
The site allows the charities to place a list of the things that they cannot afford but need in the hope that, instead of donations of money, people will pledge these items instead.
The wishes already placed on the site included reconditioned digital cameras, illustrations, kitten food and children’s gym equipment. There is even a request for practical help from photographers, media owners or the creative community.
In building the site, Story contacted a list of charities, principally through their existing connections with organisations such as Oxfam, Bfriends, Contact the Elderly and Fresh Start.
The agency was also put in touch with a range of homeless and adult literacy projects through CLAN, Edinburgh’s City Literacy and Numeracy Group.
Sue Mullen, managing director for Story, explained: “We recognise that it’s been a particularly tough year for everyone, but for small charities and projects it’s been particularly difficult. A number of our staff do voluntary work with these organisations, and they know first hand what amazing work is being done on extremely tight budgets. Hopefully, the ‘ihave’ website will provide a bit of essential kit and support where and when it’s needed most.”

Love this. What a brilliant idea, brilliantly executed.
I see they want to give away web design and logo design and photographers time but dont donate a DM campaign. Is that because they don't value other professional people's time but don't want to be charitable with their own revenue streams.

Fantastic idea, its about time the little charities got some publicity and well needed support.
Brilliant! I have some old kids stuff we don't need anymore - pram, pushchair, carseat etc. There needs to be a part on the site where the donator can post items so a particular charity can claim them, together with an explanation of why.
Great idea. makes me feel all warm

@ Anon 09:53
It seems quite clear to me that Story have funded this entire campaign themselves, therefore donating their services equally among all of the charities being helped.
The campaign is clever, original, well-executed and timely and (most importantly) needed. I've donated my time. Will you?

This is a quite brilliant piece of work - from conception to execution. Very smart digital thinking. But without ever being in thrall to the medium for its own sake. Well done Story.

Great idea, love the work and the effort , will make a huge difference to some very needy charities .
Ps to Mr or Mrs Anonymous 9.53 - put your name to it as would be good to see how you think the website was made, the creative created and all the work getting the charities on board ? and shock the marketing of this is actually a DM campaign, well done Dave, Sue and Mike and all the team

I'd echo all of the positive meassages (for once). It's a great idea well executed and the results have been astounding. Already 80 offers of help have come in, so it's effective too!
I particularly liked the request for Hibs to win the Scottish Cup. Please, please , please the rest of Scottish Football. Put us out of our misery and let this happen. Show us some charity, gawd bless ya.
