Newhaven unaffected by Flyglobespan collapse

Newhaven unaffected by Flyglobespan collapseNewhaven unaffected by Flyglobespan collapse

With the collapse of Scotland’s largest airline Flyglobespan, its appointed advertising agency Newhaven has said that despite being appointed by the client in August 2008, very little work ever appeared and that its current situation has no affect on th

Flyglobespan entered into administration leaving 4,500 people stranded abroad and costing around 800 people their jobs.

The Edinburgh based agency was appointed to work with the airliner last year. It had previously relied on work from its small in-house team, which continued to run over the last two years, despite Newhaven’s appointment.

Jonathan Shinton, director of Newhaven, explained:  “We were appointed 18 months ago to put in place a fundamental review of the brand. We completed the first stage of research and then all work went on hold due to the beginning of the financial meltdown. We helped out on some online work through out this year but had not progressed anything since Christmas 2008.”

I feel for the people who are out of a job. A real shame.

Work with the airliner? No wonder they never got any work. :-)

It's a pain that - you tender, jump through hoops and (probably) have your finances scrutinised - all to end up with very little work. To top it all off, they go under shortly after. There are times when it makes sense for agencies to do reciprocal finance checks on those they'd like to work with.

There are no winners in this story and yet more damage to Scotland as a base for industry or commerce. At leat when Agencies or Printers go down the staff don't get left in Lanzarote.

To be honest I don't think the airline's staff have been left anywhere other than on the dole – it's the customers who're stuck in Lanzagrotty. So hardly an accurate analogy Neale with an E.

Wow, another negative Newhaven comment swiftly removed. Anyone would think they had a hotline to the Carnyx Group. Oh and my portfolio of work is just fine, thanks.
