The master blender for Whyte and Mackay whisky, Richard Peterson, has had his voice recorded to be used as one of the voices for Satellite Navigation device TomTom to encourage people to drink responsibly over the New Year.

The voice has been made available through Peterson’s blog and will remind people to drink responsibly while also guiding them their destinations.

The free download is part of Whyte and Mackay's ongoing digital marketing and has been carried out by Contently Managed, which includes video pod casts presences on Facebook and Twitter and a blog.

Craig McGill, managing director of Contently Managed, said: "Whyte and Mackay have had fantastic results with their online presence, using it to tell people about new products and offer opinions on matters affecting the whisky trade, but they are also very socially and responsibly aware.

"Richard Paterson is one of the most high profile whisky figures out there and for Whyte and Mackay using Richard's visibility to spread the message of not drinking and driving with an innovative voice for the SatNav - one of the few Scottish voices out there - seemed like a natural extension to their other activities."
