Richmond Events has been involved in the planning process for a new BBC series Village SOS which will challenge villages to create new business ideas.

The series will task six UK villages to create a new business which will breath new life into their community. They will each receive up to £400,000 of funding from the Big Lottery Fund to help the development of the idea.

A Village Champion with experience in business development will be chosen by each village to help develop the idea and run the business over a 12 month period.

Richmond Events organised the matchmaking conference in Manchester for potential Village Champions and Villages, giving each a 30 minutes pre-arranged meeting.

By the end of the two-day conference, up to three Champions were shortlisted to visit each villages after which the Champion would be selected.

The programme will be broadcast on BBC One at the end of this year.
