The Edrington Group, markets of The Famous Grouse and The Macallan, has agreed with Berry Bros. & Rudd (BB&R) to buy its Cutty Sark Scotch whisky brand.

The deal will see BB&R acquire the Glenrothes single malt brand from Edrington, which has also signed a long-term supply agreement to provide whisky fillings and stocks to BB&R with Edrington retaining ownership of The Glenrothes distillery.

Edrington will also take on all distribution contracts for Cutty Sark, while Maxxium will continue to distribute The Glenrothes in key internation markets and provide a distribution option for other brands with BB&R’s spirits portfolio.

The agreement is scheduled to be concluded by April.
