The Dalriada Project

Having recently launched the redesign of its website, 87 magazine, luxury jeweller Hamilton & Inches is set to launch an advertising campaign, which will be created by Nevis.

The new site, the front end of which was also designed by the Edinburgh agency, was built to complement the established online shop and uses image by photographer David Eustace, which will also feature in the advertising campaign which will roll out across printed publications in the UK later this year.

The agency previously worked with Hamilton & Inches in 2007, when it designed The Silver Book for the Jewelers.

Meanwhile, Nevis has been awarded the contract to develop an interpretation package for heritage project the Dalriada Project which aims to conserve, enhance and promote enjoyment of its natural and cultural heritage in the west of Scotland.

The landscape in West Argyll is argued to be one of the most important historical landscapes in Britain, and the project, which will be completed by the end of April, will be used for social, educational and economic benefits for the local community and tourists.

design agencies do tons of advertising campaigns in sectors such as this, fashion, perfume. Mainly cos it needs a model, a decent piece of photography and very few words...client would argue that their advertising is design. Nothing new (or wrong) here.

That headline on the website, "Do you love her enough to make her cry" made me want to cry.

Just because.

Where's the idea? Where's the emotional engagement with the consumer.
Another ad campaign done by designers. Style over substance.

Ad agencies stop whingeing. Nevis has done a great job of building a strong relationship with this client over the years and is rightly being rewarded with a bit of loyalty.

And as for the creative, get real - this is luxury goods marketing where people want to see the product looking good. Personally I think there IS a creative thought/emotional connection in here: 'just because' recognises the irrational act of spending £75k on a few candlesticks.

It looks international, cosmopolitan, aspirational, when it could easily be a provincial jeweler...
