Michel Huet passes away

Michel Huet passes awayMichel Huet passes away

The Drum is sad to learn that highly-respected creative director Michel Huet has passed away.

Huet, known to colleagues as Mich, was the creative director of Cheshire agency Huet Aminto and has long been a hugely regarded figure in the north west creative community.

"Mich's passing will leave a huge void for everyone who knew him," his agency wrote on its website. "His idiosyncrasies made him unforgettable and his generosity and encouragement to students and young creatives is an example to all."

Friends and colleagues left their tributes to Michel on the website.

Michel's funeral will take place next Wednesday at 12 noon at St Mark’s Church, Dunham Massey. The service will be a celebration of Michel's life and his family have requested no one wears black.

Worked with him at Huet Timmins and later as a freelancer. Did everything with a smile and a laugh. Can't believe he's not around anymore.

I only Mich once, but he was very generous with his time and enormously encouraging. He had a very engaging character and you couldn't help but feel you'd known him for ever. A very sad loss to friends and colleagues alike.

As a fledgling copywriter in the early to mid 80s you couldn't help but look up to Mich, He represented everything I thought advertising was about. He made creativity so cool. Made Don Johnson look like a Mich wannabee. And a nice guy to boot.
I suppose with this life you can only hope that you make your mark, make a difference, touch lives. Mich did this in abundance. A sad loss indeed...

Anyone who ever met or worked with Mich will know we've all lost someone truly irreplaceable. Such a sad day. Such a great bloke.

Mich was a really lovely man. I share a lot of Sean's thoughts regarding him. Never worked with him but he was a really genuine guy who was always full of encouragement and up for a laugh. And yes, Don Johnson's career would have been nowhere without him.

I'll be toasting Mich this lunchtime and having a quiet moment.

Very sad news.

I worked with Mich as a copywriter at Mitchell Gee on Mount Street, an agency that had a terrifically creative reputation in its day. This was largely a result of Mich’s talent but it was also down to his flamboyant and often mischievous personal style. It’s a shame that it takes bad news to bring the memories back.

What a nice guy, funny and talented. Even took his creative talent and applied it to his passion for the cars that he drove, who else would have painted out the BMW badge in the colour of the bodywork!
