Robson Brown buyer Round 2 nears more acquisitions

Marketing / England & Wales

The Drum has learned that Round 2, the US company that bought Newcastle marketing agency Robson Brown, is close to completing a further two acquisitions in the UK.

The UK chairman of Round 2, Garfield Ricketts, told The Drum he was not yet finished building the business in the UK, with one acquisition set to be completed in London and another "outside of London".

Although Ricketts (pictured, left, with Robson Brown's new chief executive Andrew Marwick) refused to discuss the sale price in terms of the Robson Brown deal, it was revealed that once the next acquisition is completed, Round 2 will have an annual turnover of £80million.

He also explained that Marwick, formerly managing director of Robson Brown, will be CEO of the whole of Round 2's UK operations, as well as overseeing Robson Brown's Newcastle business, which will retain its name.

Asked whether one of the acquisitions would be in the digital field, Ricketts would only say: “We’re pretty digital savvy anyway in the US so we’re planning on augmenting the UK facility to expand that capability.”
