A new website for Newcastle gallery Opus Art which aims to promote local artists and better connect artists from around the world, has been created and developed by Orange Bus.
The Kounter Kulture site has been in development for the last four months, with the aim of enabling new artists to meet potential collectors or buyers without having to spend a great deal of money promoting themselves through a gallery exhibition, explains Julian Leighton, co-founder of Orange Bus.
“We identified that one of the problems was that lack of provenance and we decided that it was impossible to get every single possible buyer into a gallery to meet them, so we would take the artist to them and we’ll see the artist creating their work live on camera,” continued Leighton.
The live video stream demonstrates the artists at work, which can then be archived once completed for potential buyers to watch.
“This is still very much in its early phases at the moment because there is never more than one on at a time, but the idea is that there will be a whole collection of live feeds and viewers will be able to choose whichever one they want,” explained Leighton.
Orange Bus has also added a Twitter feed to the site which will allow artists to converse through the site and answer questions while they work.
Other features include a gallery section of work, a profile section profiling the artists, a blog section, a forum and an events area to inform collectors what to expect from artists.
