Manchester studio Mi has created the music video for The Chemists' new single 'This City' - and it features a guest appearance from Richard E Grant as a half-man, half-robot character.

Visual effects and animation firm Mi was given the brief by the band's label Distiller Records and it worked with Redbutton Films to produce the final video. Richard E Grant in robot form was built in 3D studio Max and Maya.

The advert was directed by The Gate Film's Mark Jewitt.

Ian Hogg, creative director at Mi, said: "We had a lot of fun producing the video and working on the ‘classic’ storyline: man (Richard E Grant) wants girl, man held back by power cable, man follows cable through club, man turns into robot – a common everyday tale."
