After two years of planning, Socks for Happy People, an ethical sock company, has launched with Glorious Creative creating the brand and its website design.

According to Richard Taylor, director of Socks for Happy People, the London company is aiming to position itself as a high end brand, using only organic cotton at one of India’s most ethical factories.

Taylor added that the company’s image was crucial to presenting the business as a serious outfit when approaching suppliers and retailers before product launch.

“As soon as we were looking to agree deals the credit crunch kicked, with manufacturers trebling the volume of orders they were willing to accept. Having the right image was critical,” he said.

Scott McCubbin, MD of Glorious, commented: “This is a real ‘feel good’ product. Their ‘buy one, give one free’ concept is a novel idea in this country. Every time a consumer buys a product in this country, someone in another part of the world gets a free pair. The idea has already proven popular in the US."
