The Commonwealth Games 2014 organising committee has appointed Sports Marketing and Management and is commercial agent.

Following a tender process, the London based company has now been tasked with handling the marketing management and promotion of the Games, which will be held in Glasgow.

The company has been appointed on a 53 month contract, having been appointed, according to the original advert, with an award criteria that saw price weighed at 30% and quality weighed at 70%.

Updated: The Glasgow 2014 Commonwelath Games Organising Committee has got in touch with The Drum to inform it that Sports Marketing and Management have yet to be fully appointed, but are actually the 'preffered bidders' for the contract.

A Glasgow 2014 spokesperson said: “Sports Marketing and Management are currently preferred bidders for the Commercial Agent tender, as part of a thorough procurement process which started in 2009.  SMAM were shortlisted from a number companies who bid for the contract.

“The successful bidder will support the Glasgow 2014 sponsorship sales team to achieve our sponsorship revenue target. This is very much a commercial role and Glasgow 2014 is looking for the agent to communicate what is for sale in a highly impactful way, in what is an extremely competitive landscape.”
