The leader of the official trade body for the UK's events industry Izania Downie outlines what she will be looking for from this year's entrants.

Downie has 15 years experience in the marketing and events industry, with a career spanning the corporate, agency and hotel sectors in both New Zealand and the UK.

Downie will join Alison Wills from Confex Group, Lucy Gemmell from Rhubarb Food and Design and John Sachs from Variety Club on the judging panel, with more names to be added in the coming weeks.

Speaking of what she will be looking for from this year’s entries Downie said: “When Judging awards I am looking for outstanding entries that can outline clearly set objectives and how they met those. The ability to demonstrate measurements of the return on objectives and investment will be set entries apart as will the creativity and innovation in the design and execution of the events.”

The deadline for entries to this year’s Scottish Event Awards is 21 May and the event will take place on Thursday 9 September at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
