Glasgow-based Music Design firm Open Ear has launched RemoteDJ, the UK’s first online DJ service designed exclusively for business use.
Through an online subscription system bars, cafes, restaurants and shops can receive up-to-date music via five streaming channels. Each channel is curated by a team of DJs and music experts – new music is added daily and playlists are designed to create the perfect atmosphere in any licensed trade location.
RemoteDJ claims to directly compete on price with Spotify but contains no adverts and much more advanced playlist functionality. Unlike Spotify, the world's most popular music streaming service, RemoteDJ is fully licensed for business use – it is currently illegal for businesses to use Spotify.
Part-funded by the Glasgow City Council’s Glasgow 4 Business award, the streamed service is updated with new music daily. The player also offers the ability to rate and download tracks, offering a new level of user interaction and a platform in which the music industry can promote their new releases.
