Tennent's new online hub launched by Whitespace

Tennent's Lager has launched the first phase of its new website, created by Whitespace.

www.tennents.com

The new site is a platform for all aspects of the brand marketing campaign, with a new navigation panel  – The Tennent’s hub – allowing all assets of the site, including links to campaigns such as T-Break and Be Chilled, to be housed in one dedicated area.

As well as providing information and history on the product and campaigns, it also allows users to view external content sites such as YouTube (for previous advertising campaigns) and is tied to the launch of Tennent's official Facebook page, again run by Whitespace, which has almost 200 fans in its first few days of launch.

The site also focuses on Tennent’s continued dedication to music and football in Scotland with information and updates for users. It also includes a football quiz for fans and a chance to win T in the Park tickets in the run up to this year’s festival.

This is good stuff. Interesting to see the way web's developing. Nice images, beautiful photos, clever copy platforms, it's all coming round to great design again!

' Interesting to see the way web's developing. ' in general, or just this piece?

This is a nice idea, although as a consumer I'm not sure what would make me want to come back, but that will probably come to rest on whatever the content strategy is.

It's always good to see a different approach and the use of the WIKI, You Tube, Facebook, etc., held together with the hub is a nice touch and probably a tip of the hat to the excellent Skittles work by Glue London a couple of years ago.

I do wonder about the usability though. Making the pints the hero is a nice idea, but I missed the content below the fold first time round and I'm on a decent sized monitor - it would be easy to completely miss it on 1024 x 768. It's a wee bit clunky to navigate too until you get used to it.

Still, 10/10 for effort for the Whitespace guys and to the client for doing something a bit different.

Imagery good, the pint is the star , the various sections include loads of nice touches including the old adverts

Dislikes-
Not sure of the Social media bits - does smack of we better have facebook ..... , bit clunky on the navigation - try getting off the Hugh Tennant page !!! -and most of the page block drops below the fold so loads of bits get missed however most of the headlines are readable .Would love to know if there was any user testing!!!

Still overall liked it

I'm afraid I quite like it. It is difficult to back from the hugh tennent wiki page, but that's just about the only way of doing it without leaving the tennents site. The pint navigation could scroll a bit smoother, but not to worry - all round it's a brave idea done well.

I do wish everyone would stop banging on about usability and navigation - please learn some new digital words.

Nice idea, nice design, nicely executed. Best thing I can say about it is that it makes me want a pint.

Good work Whitespacers.
