Protestant churches use Jesus baby scan in anti-abortion ad

Executives from the Church of England, Methodist, United Reformed and Baptist Churches, represented by ChurchAds.net, have plunged Protestant churches into the abortion debate with their new campaign.

The poster campaign will feature on billboards over Christmas and reads: “He’s on His way. Christmas starts with Christ.”

Francis Goodwin of ChurchAds.net said: “Our poster reflects this new way of announcing the news of a new arrival and places the birth of Christ in an ultra-contemporary context. It offers a fresh perspective on the birth of Christ — creating anticipation and alluding to both His humanity and divinity.”

And John Smeaton, director of the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child, added: “This advertisement sends a powerful message to everyone in Britain where 570 babies are killed every day in the womb, 365 days a year, under the Abortion Act. Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus.”

The National Secular Society’s Terry Sanderson criticised the campaign however, arguing: “I hope that the Church of England isn’t trying to use its Christmas poster campaign to make a political point. If that’s the intention, we may have questions to ask at the Charity Commission.

The posters will start appearing on bus stops from 6 December.

"Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus.”

I hate to point this out, but surely if this were the case, the child would rise again after three days.

How utterly ridiculous. Of course that child isn't Jesus. It doesn't have a beard.

Xmas begins with an 'X' though. And so does the X_Men. I bet that's on at Christmas too. Spooky.

"Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus.”

Does that mean all the woman who have abortions are called Mary?

"Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus"

Thats as maybe but until that child grew a beard, and wore robes and sandles and performed miracles I am sure Joseph still had his doubts.........

Yeh, I was wondering what John Smeaton was on about.

The 'Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus.” quote seems to make no sense, as the ad seems to have nothing to do with abortions.
