Long running children’s television programme Blue Peter has launched a football game featuring motion sensor technology as part of its celebrations of the FIFA World Cup.

Designed by Fish in a Bottle, ‘Keepy Uppy’ is a foodball game which uses motion sensor technology to incorporate a user’s webcam, although it can also be played used a mouse to keep the ball in the air for as long as possible.

Drew Wilkins, client services director at fish in a bottle explained: “We originally introduced webcam features on the BAFTA nominated “In the Night Garden” project and since then have wanted to push that technology further. We’re really pleased with the popularity of the game even at this early stage and shows the growing move toward motion sensor gaming.”

Richard England, assistant producer at the BBC, added: “It is important for us to make the game accessible to all. By allowing players to use their mouse or webcam to play the game it allows everyone to play whilst still pushing innovation through the use of motion sensor technology.”
