Rape Crisis Scotland is launching a TV campaign tonight to tackle "prejudice" against rape victims.
The 'Not Ever' campaign is a response to new figures which suggest nearly one in five Scots believe a woman can be partly responsible for rape if she is drunk at the time of being attacked.
More than 1,000 people were surveyed by Cello MRUK on behalf of the Scottish government. According to the figures 23% think a woman is partly responsible if she is drunk and 17% if she is dressed in revealing clothes.
The campaign, created by Newhaven, shows a woman asking a shop assistant for advice on which skirt to buy.
She says: "I'm going out tonight and I want to get raped. I need a skirt that'll encourage a guy to have sex with me against my will."
Rape Crisis Scotland say the ad is designed to change ingrained prejudices towards women who have been raped.

I've now seen this ad a few times whilst watching World Cup football highlights (nice media placement). I have to say I think the idea behind it is really arresting. I like the fact the whole 'she's asking for it' terrible chat has been tackled head-on.
The thought-provoking 'challenge yourself' section on the site is worth a look:

And it's good to see a rather full 'links and resources' section on the site too.
I really hope this campaign helps us all think about the prejudices that we might hold, and how we should reconsider them.
Nice one guys.
