The head of Creative Sheffield has said that he believes that the development agency for the city’s creative sector can survive the closure of urban regeneration company Hull Forward.

Speaking to Insider, chief executive Paul Firth has said that he believed Creative Sheffield could survive public sector cuts and that it could continue to ‘take forward’ the marketing and inward investment for the city.

Creative Sheffield employs 43 staff who provide a link between Sheffield City Council and investment developers.

Meanwhile, the Northwest Development Agency has learned that it must cut £52 million – 18 percent of its annual budget as part of a cut of £270 million in allocated funding for Regional Development Agencies across the UK.

Regional Development Agencies are set to replaced by another form of organisation which will be announced in a White Paper by the Government at the end of Summer.
