North Lanarkshire Council says that it intends to create a framework for the supply of design and print services, understood to be worth between £3m to £3.6m.
It is understood that up to 22 agencies could be appointed to handle the framework over an initial four-year-period, which will be divided into seven lots.
The four years contract may also be extended by two-years upon review.
Up to 44 agencies are expected to make the tender process, according to the advert which also sets a deadline for tenders on 15 September.
The seven Lots will be made up of Full design and print services which will see successful applicants provide graphic design services for print and on-line requirements, including concept develop, supply of visual/artwork, photography, Illustrations; Cartography; and Copywriting and editorial services.
Print will mean the provision of offset, digital and litho, print management / production, pre-press arrangement, supply of proofs, a range of finishes, alternative format Services e.g. Braille, storage and storage management service, delivery and distribution services; and any ad hoc print-related service.
Lot two will see the delivery of Design only, offering an alternative option to supplement the council’s in-house resources.
The third Lot will see suppliers work alongside the Council’s corporate design studio and responsible for producing a range of printing services when necessary.
Lot 4 will oversee the provision of display products including custom made exhibition stands, pop-up displays, pull-up displays, outdoor displays, interior/exterior banners, backdrops, encapsulated images, point of Sale; podiums, vinyl graphics, vehicle graphics, billboard printing; and delivery/install/removal/disposal.
The provision of Promotional Items will be covered by the suppliers appointed to Lot 5, meaning they will be made responsible for the supply of corporate gifts, small value promotional items, mid-range promotional items, conference items, glassware/crystal; awards, and clothing.
Lot 6 will be for the supply of Multimedia Services including DVD / CD / USB duplication, DVD / CD authoring, video / audio conversion; and online multimedia.
The final seventh Lot will oversee signage across specialist signage, interior and exterior facility signage (excluding road signage), a range of finishes, plaques and engraving; and delivery/install/removal/disposal services.

44 to tender, 22 to be picked.
Wow!
And then the 22 are probably expected to fight it out for each scrap of work!
'glassware/crystal' WTF? Aren't councils meant to be cutting back?
Have we entered an era of the 'Royal Rumble of Agencies'??
As entertaining as it was when i was a kid watching Hulk Hogan winning almost of them, surely a tender process with 44 agencies and then 22 on a roster doesnt represent any value for money, efficient use of time and resources!

Hang on a minute! They need 22 agencies AND they've got an in-house design team???!!!! WTF!!
Another procurement department justifying its own existence.
Are there any other industries where firms are asked to dance like performing monkeys at their own expense?
Imagine how busy you can look in the public sector marking and managing all these private sector tenders! Expect much more of this across the public sector as their employees use procurement methods, rather than budgets, to busy themselves...
