Buckfast branded ice cream cooked up by chefs

The Buckfast brand may be mud in large swathes of deepest, darkest Lanarkshire but that hasn’t stopped one enterprising Leith diner from launching “Buckfast ripple” ice cream, as the ned’s tipple of choice penetrates well heeled Edinburgh.

Inevitably (intentionally?) the launch has caused a very definite ripple to sweep through political circles as politicians compete to condemn the dessert, accusing the Monk produced tonic wine for fuelling violence and anti social behaviour.

Chefs at E:S:I, a Leith based bistro, brewed up the unlikely concoction after experimenting with a series of alcohol mixes whilst devising a new range of puddings.

Buckfast afficianados may be disappointed to learn that this particular variety of the drink is alcohol free, the cooking process sees it all evaporate. Perhaps the chefs have unwittingly cooked up a recipe for change that politicians and police can stomach.
