Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has launched a campaign to encourage people to bin their litter.

Developed by Inferno, the campaign aims to reflect a 1970’s style seaside postcard and run across outdoor, bus sides and local community posters.

A second poster titled ‘Get behind us’ will aim to localise the campaign, inserting the name of the city instead of ‘us’.

Ginette Unsworth of Keep Britain Tidy said: "Britain currently spends £858m on cleaning its streets. If everyone stopped dropping litter, be it a cigarette butt or unwanted receipt, and picked up one piece of litter a day, Britain would be a more beautiful place.

"Despite the frustrations over budget cuts, we’re thrilled with Inferno's campaign and look forward to seeing it roll out across the country. We appreciate everyone’s support," added Unsworth.

Andy Cairns, managing director of Inferno, said that the agency pitched and won the project back in October and aims to encapsulates a serious message with a sense of fun.
