Crown Paints has worked with TBWA\Manchester to launch its first ever iPhone app.
The 'Crown Colour Match' app helps decorators find the shade of paint they are looking for when they upload a picture showing the colour they have in mind.
It then uses the iPhone's GPS capabilities to show the nearest stockist, providing contact details and travel directions.
Crown says it is the first UK paint manufacturer to launch such a service and its tool will allow users to match up 250 colours and find more than 1800 stockists.
Sally Heppenstall from Crown said: "We know that some of our customers find it tiresome trying to match their preferred colours with swatches.
"We wanted to take advantage of technology already available to create a simple, practical and useful tool for customers and we're confident we have achieved this."

Think this was before all the digital department left. Presumably they'll move that aswell now.
Blah blah blah, let's all slag off TBWA. Get over it and move on, it's getting boring.
Boring like a monkey that keeps sticking it's foot in its own botty? I don't think so.
Oh, they also outsourced the app because they refused to train their own employees in app building.
Fools.
Is there a problem here? No? Move along...
I think the question should be, knowing the quality of camera phone images, would you trust it enough to shell out your hard earned wonga and have paint mixed that looks nothing like the picture taken.
This is just a naff idea to use GPS to show you where the shops are rather than a useful tool.
5 comments later and we finally start talking about the app and its application.
