North West tinned salmon and tuna company John West has been bought by to Thailand’s largest producer of tinned Tuna in a deal worth £568m.

Private equity firm Trilantic Capital Partners has struck a deal with Thai Union Frozen Products for the acquisition of MW Brands which also owns Mareblu, Parmentier and Petite Navire.

The Liverpool brand, which employs 67 staff in the UK and was founded in 1886 and has recently agreed a six-figure deal with celebrity chef James Martin who will endorse its products.

It works with Manchester agency CheethamBell JWT on its ad campaigns.
