A food blog designed by a mother desperate to convince her fussy four year old daughter to eat her greens has become a surprise internet hit.

The Little Food Junction blog depicts a range of familiar vegetables and salads assorted into images greater than the sum of their parts.

But now Simita Srivastava, a graphic designer from New Delhi, has rather more on her plate than she bargained for after her “salad art” was consumed by more than 50,000 bloggers.

Amongst the tot tempting foodstuffs is a cunningly disguised watermelon. Sliced into a semi circle with strategically placed liquorice shoestring and sculpted olives the dish assumes the identity of an umbrella, perfect for a rainy day.

What a nice Friday story.

My kids still wouldn't eat it though. I would have to disguise it as a McDonalds.

I'm more concerned that she is a 'Graphic Designer'.

Been nice to have seen a better more creative site.
