Atha discusses Edinburgh International Marketing Festival plans

Graeme Atha, director of the inaugural Edinburgh International Marketing Festival, reveals the plans in place for the festival and talks about some of the events which will be staged during it.

The festival, which begins on 23 August, aims to be a celebration of the marketing industry while also reaching schools and students to encourage them to consider a career in the industry, Atha explains to The Drum in this interview.

A series of Edinburgh International Marketing Festival events will take place around Edinburgh as part of the overall Edinburgh Festival, including a talk from Roisin Donnelly, corporate marketing director of Proctor and Gamble, discussing Marketing for Good, and a talk from business author, consultant and entrepreneur Peter Fisk about ‘The New Art of Marketing’.

Meanwhile, marketer Will Armstrong will discuss his experiences of posting himself to this year’s festival – should he survive the trip, while The Union will open its doors to the public to tour its building and allow them a glimpse of the behind the scene operations within an advertising agency.

The festival will run until 28 August with more information available through the official website.
