Newcastle agency Different has created the website for a new green travel project which is trialling the use of electric vehicles in the North East of England.

The Switch EV scheme will trial 35 brand new all electric vehicles across the region from September 2010.

They will be leased to organisations, councils, car clubs and individuals so people can get a feel for running the cars - including how to charge them up to keep them moving.

Different's website features a map showing recharging points in the area, the range of vehicles available and a blog about how the project is progressing.

Nick Salloway, head of Different's digital division, said: "It's crucial that the messages about the electric vehicle pilot project are communicated clearly to engage both organisations and consumers so that everyone takes an active interest and has the opportunity to play their part in a unique environmental project."

Different created the website as part of its ongoing contract with Future Transport Systems, the independent company behind the Switch EV scheme.
