At a press conference today, Apple unvieled its new social music discovery service, Ping, which will be built into its iTunes software and the new look, much anticipated Apple TV.

The press conference in San Francisco saw Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple announce the launch of Ping, which aims to be a social networking site focusing on music, which will allow users to follow music artists and friends.

As well as Ping, Jobs unveiled the new set-top box for Apple TV. Which will be able to stream music, films and TV shows through a TV.

The device will be moderately priced in the US at $99 to ensure widespread appeal, although no details of a UK launch have yet been made.

New look iPods were also unveiled.
