The marketing and communications teams at Royal Bank of Scotland will not be affected by today’s announcement that around 3,500 members of staff will be involved in a consultation process involving staff cuts.

The bank has announced that it plans to cut 3,500 members of staff from its technical and back-off teams across the UK.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed to The Drum that this would have no affect on its marketing and communications teams.

Around one third of the job losses are being made a result of the bank selling 318 of its branches to Santander and will bring the number of job losses to 27,000 since early 2009.
