The Drum has learned that Subway's head of marketing Alex Cacouris is to leave the company later this month.

Cacouris joined Subway in September 2006 taking on the role of Subway UK and Ireland marketing manager. He was moved into the head of marketing role in July 2008. Prior to joining Subway Cacouris worked for Burger King for seven years as a marketing manager.

Subway confirmed that Cacouris is making a move out of the marketing industry to “follow his calling to become a Vicar”.

The sandwich franchise added that “recruitment of a replacement is currently being finalised but details are not available at present”.

There is not a sub for that! Nice natural move though, going from pedalling lies about subs being healthy to a bigger lie.
